In today’s Bangor Daily News, February 27, in an article entitled Pirates join college artists to unveil 20th anniversary logo, look forward to future in Portland, writer Seth Koenig informs us of a recent opportunity students had from Maine College of Art (MECA). They attended a press conference with Brian Petrovek, CEO from the Portland Pirates hockey team.
Students were there because Petrovek unveiled the new team logo for their 20th anniversary. The logo was designed by the students after collaborating and submitting their ideas. Two ideas were reviewed and one was selected and is being used on all of their promotional information including clothing.
The team officials weren’t the only ones impressed with the ideas submitted. The Reebok represenatives were surprised when they learned the work was created right across the street in the graphics design at MECA.
