Addressing homelessness through art in Denver
We know that many artists use their art to communicate about social issues. In Denver a program called Platform “brings artists from all over the world and pairs them with at-risk and marginalized youth to create social change.” The program is 5-8 weeks long and during the time the students were transformed as they learned about everyday folks in their community – homeless people. This is a great example of empowering youth to make a difference. The mayor was invited to meet with the students on the last day of the program and asked him: “What are you going to do?”
